Emily M. Puckett

Emily represents individuals and their families in claims against insurance companies and corporations. She was motivated to pursue a law degree after working in the foster care system—first as a foster and adoptive parent, and later as a parent trainer and mentor.

 

Emily had the honor of walking alongside children and families through unimaginably difficult times. Through those experiences, she learned to listen well, navigate complicated situations, and use her voice as an advocate. 

 

Desiring to offer her best self to her community, Emily returned to school on a full scholarship at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law.

 

After graduating with distinction, she served two consecutive terms as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Danny C. Reeves of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She assisted with several civil and criminal jury trials and complex hearings during her clerkship.

 

Outside of work, Emily loves spending time with her college sweetheart husband and their six children. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and tackling ambitious DIY home improvement projects. She is passionate about her faith, foster care advocacy, equal access to justice, and lifelong learning. 

 

 

Emily is a Berea College graduate. She received her Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, where she was a Rosenberg Scholar and member of the Order of the Coif.

 

She earned CALI Awards for the highest grade in Torts, Contracts I, Healthcare Organizations and Finance, Education Law, and Criminal Law Seminar.

 

Emily served as the managing articles editor of the Kentucky Law Journal, worked as a Torts teaching assistant, and co-founded the law school’s chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association.

 

She earned the Pro Bono Award for her volunteer work at expungement clinics, the Fayette County Legal Help Center, and as a Kentucky Innocence Project extern.

 

Emily also received the Best Appellee Brief award in Legal Research and Writing and the Rebecca Westerfield Excellence in Leadership Award Scholarship.
